Why "Mira"? Words are powerful and evoke many emotions in a person. In Romance languages, it is associated with translations such as "wonder" and "wonderful”; In South Slavic "peace”; Albanian "goodness or kindness" and in Sanskrit, "ocean". Although definitions vary from language to language, each meaning resonates deeply within our hearts and has become the perfect fit for our jewelry line. Our Story —
Ariana Owen & Kristy Maligro are the makers behind each piece. Although they did not grow up together, they became fast friends nearly twenty years ago when their oldest children were just toddlers. As more babies came into each of their families and they walked through many ups and downs of life alongside each other, the innate desire to create was steadfast for each of them. With overlapping tastes and a variety of skillsets, they established a business together a handful of years ago as a way to get to hang out more and pour their creative energy into something. Inspired by the purity of minimalism and the unmatched beauty of Kaua’i, Mira evolved as the perfect way to allow them to be present for the ones still growing up in each of their own families while simultaneously fulfilling their love of making.
